Benefits of Satin On Your Hair

Writer's picture: The Curl ChroniclesThe Curl Chronicles

Satin is a smooth fabric usually made of cotton blends. Since satin and silk have smaller fibers which make them smooth and soft on your hair, they help to reduce breakage and dryness. Here is a list of essential products made of satin that can help the health of your hair!

1. Satin Pillowcase:

Satin or silk pillowcases are great for keeping your hair frizz-free and hydrated overnight. Satin, unlike cotton, will not dry out your hair but soak up all its moisture. This is also a good alternative if you aren't able to wrap your hair up in a satin scarf. Satin pillowcases are also great for your skin so you can wake up with soft hair and skin! This is my most recommended satin product since it is easy to incorporate into a daily routine, affordable, and easy to travel with.

2. Satin Scrunchies:

Most people use plastic elastic bands in their hair, but those rubber bands can cause serious breakage of your hair. Hair ties with metal grips can snag on your hair and cause split ends. Your curls can get tangled in mini rubber bands and end up breaking off when you take them out. Satin scrunchies are gentle and glide on and off your hair. They also do not create as big of a crease in your hair like other hair bands do. They also allow you to get loose or tight ponytails without putting too much stress on your edges. They come in so many different colors and prints and are affordable!

3. Satin Bonnet:

These are an essential for nighttime if you want your hair to be neat and tidy for the next day. There are many different styles of hair bonnets, some larger or tighter than others. Find one that fits your head and the length of your hair. You can also wear satin lined baseball caps or beanies for extra protection.

4. Satin Clothing:

When your hair is shoulder length it can be especially hard to take care of your ends since they are always rubbing against your shoulders and whatever fabric your shirt is. When there is constantly friction between the drying cotton fabric and the ends of your hair, split ends can occur. Wearing clothes made of satin or smooth fabrics can help to decrease the amount of split ends and breakage that your hair endures.

5. Satin Scarf:

Satin scarfs can be worn to sleep or in the daytime as a protective style. Scarfs act as a protective layer from environmental impacts and can keep your hair neat and tangle free. You can also get satin scarfs in many different colors and patterns.
